I've never been much of a photographer. My photos are usually out of focus or just plain blah. My cousin is a completely different story. Ever since we were kids she would put the adults to shame with her stunning photos during family trips abroad. I remember waiting eagerly for her photos to come out (film was still somewhat employed then).
I am proud to say that she hasn't stopped taking photos--and traveling to capture the world through her camera lens--and would probably have a good career as a travel photographer if she wanted to, which she doesn't. "It will dampen my enthusiasm for it," she says. Even if she pretty much knows the ropes, I would still give her this book because its pretty comprehensive and has a lot of tips from the pros.
