Book Lust List

One of the adults I absolutely loooove is Nancy Pearl, librarian, avid reader and author of Book Lust. Have you guys laid your eyes on this book?!!!! What a dizzying compilation it is! Filled with Nancy’s book recommendations for just about any kind of mood. And since I can be a mite moody, I know how helpful this book is but…well…I am miles away from reading all the books that are in her book. I’m no Nancy Pearl but just wanted to share the books that I’m lusting for! Can’t wait to get my hands on these so I can lock myself in my room and start reading. Caaaan’t wait!

Black Tattoo by Sam Enthoven – I read a review and I was hooked! A teenager possessed by a demon, a secret society, a plot to save the world and a sprinkling of magical creatures..what’s not to like?
1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die by Robert Dimery – I love lists! And here’s another one…. albums! Adults in movies talk about Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra and even Yoko Ono’s songs and sometimes I just don’t get it. Kids my age don’t talk about stuff like that and I wanna know more about how and why these albums made the cut.
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath – ever since I saw Julia Stiles read this in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, I’ve been wanting to read it too. Soon, you will be in my hands!

Dreamland by Sarah Dessen – I love her books and how the things she writes about are hard, heavy and gritty stuff. Stuff that people don’t want to talk about. She lays it all out and this one is no different.

The Devil’s Graveyard by Anonymous – You’ve got a reality-show-singing-contest impersonating dead stars and the contestants get killed off one by one…isn’t that gripping you yet????
The Recessionistas by Alexandra Lebenthal -- Let’s see how those Upper Eastsiders deal with the global recession. No more outings to the salon, my chihuahua? The Murder Room by Michael Capuzzo – I am such a Sherlock Holmes fan so give me any murder, mystery or crime book and I want my hands on it pronto! What’s in your Book Lust list?

  1. Hey Lucy! Whew, from Twitter to Facebook to Blogosphere. You sure do get around.

I don't have a book lust list. However, I have a 10-book list to read before I can even think of buying a new one. I have a stack and two bookshelves worth of unread books, some of them still in their shrink-wrap packages.

  2. Oooh books in your wishlist, I have a lot of those! Most of which I'm planning to have Fully Booked order for me through the special order service. :P I have a weekly meme called Want Books that features books that you want but can't have for some reason. So basically, the meme covers books in your wishlist. Because I know that book lovers will never run out of books that they want.

  3. The Devil's Graveyard seems very interesting. I myself have that same giddying feeling that you must read something different than the previous, so I really can't be honestly sure what I will be hoping to grab next. :D

  4. Mother of the Believers: A Novel of the Birth of Islam by Kamran Pasha.

Its the month of Ramadan. Its good something related to it.

I bought Shadow of the Sword at Fullybooked at 20% and lost it on a coffee shop :( But I bought an e-book copy at Amazon Kindle.

  5. Hi, Lucy. Congratulations again on your new blog!

This is my book lust list, at least for today. Some of them are available at Fully Booked already, and the other, I hope, will be available soon (or as soon as they're released):

The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters, Super Sad True Love Story by Gary Shteyngart, Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, and more NYRB books, especially from the Children's Collection.

Actually, I'm also hoping that the NYRB books would be segregated in the shelves at Fully Booked, like the Penguin classics, and not lumped with all of the other fiction books.:)

  6. Hi Lucy! :)

I have too many books on my lust list. :P Right now one of them is Happyface by Stephen Emond. :)

Oh and by the way, I gave your blog ana ward: :)

  7. @borderlineunfriendly, i can totally relate with having piles of brand new books that are just waiting to be read. we better start cracking on them huh? that way, we can move on and get another new stash of books that we can devour! hahaha.

@chachic, i'd love to read your reviews! you're weekly meme sounds uber cool. i'll definitely check that out!

@michael, i know what you mean! yup excited to read, the devil's graveyard too. stay tuned for the review!

@ras, that title is very timely. sorry to hear you lost your copy of shadow of the sword. i hate it when that happens :-(

@fantaghiro23, thanks for sharing your book lust list! i like your suggestion! hmmm... i'll tell the fully booked peeps about that! thanks!

@tina, OMG! thanks for the award! i'm a newbie to blogging and already i have an award?! this is pure awesome!

  8. I have quite a number of books I'm dying to buy. I'm currently obsessed in getting myself a copy of David Mitchell's Cloud Atlas and a Hugo Cabaret. Unfortunately I have too much on my to be read file at the moment. I actually haven't read Book Lust, though I've seen it in Fullybooked before.

  9. i always have a book list whenever i go to fully booked, it mostly consists of biographies and historical books. its too bad i only get twice a year to visit the bookshop since i live in davao...i really wish fully booked will open a branch here soon...
